Independence Home Study Program
Independence Home Study Center (I.H.S.C.) provides an affordable opportunity for earning high school credit through home study. Home study allows students to make up failed classes, earn the last credit or two needed for early graduation, and meets special needs such as making up credits missed due to severe illness.

I.H.S.C. offers courses to 9-12 grade students in the Provo School District. To enroll they must have a referral from the high school they attend. Two home study credits may be applied toward and Independence, Provo, or Timpview High School diploma (each school has set their own guidelines).

Students earning more credit through home study receive a Provo School District diploma.

Students complete their work on their own at home. Tests are administered at the I.H.S.C.

Classes are designed to require approximately 36 hours of work per .25 credit (one term). Students must pass all exams to receive a passing grade for the course. Grades are calculated from homework assignments and exams.

A $20.00 registration fee (one time per year) plus $12.00 for every .25 credit (one term). Book deposit is $30.00 (Deposit refunded when the textbook is returned). Fees must be paid before work will be given.

Hours: September – May, Monday & Wednesday 3:00 – 6:00.
Summer Hours – Monday & Wednesday 9:00 - 12:00 Noon.
Home Study is closed:
The week of Graduation
The week after Graduation
The last two weeks of August.
Seniors final registration is the last week in March. All work must be turned in by the 3rd week in April to guarantee credits will be posted for May Graduation.
